MARCH 2026 · STUDIO JOURNAL
At our studio, the pursuit of excellence never really stops. From our very first kiln firing to the intricate commissions we take on today, we have always believed that the tools and environment surrounding our work are just as important as the hands shaping it. That's why we're thrilled to share our latest studio upgrade — one that is already changing the way we create.
"Good light doesn't just help you see the work — it helps you see what the work could become."
We've just completed a full lighting overhaul across the studio, and the difference is nothing short of transformative. New full-spectrum LED task lighting now sits directly above every workstation and kiln. For fused glass art, this matters enormously. Color perception changes dramatically depending on the light source, and with our upgraded system, what you see in the studio is precisely what emerges from the kiln.
The new lighting has also opened the door to more intricate work. Cutting fine details into glass, laying precise lines, and layering translucent glass powders all demand a level of visual clarity. Now, with shadow-free illumination and magnified task spots, we can push into territory that was previously difficult — hair-thin inclusions, graduated color fields, and multi-layer compositions with more depth and dimension.
This upgrade is part of our ongoing commitment to building a studio that grows alongside our ambitions. Over the past few years, we've added a fourth programmable kiln, invested in premium glass stock from our Portland, Oregon and South Pasadena suppliers, and refined our firing schedules for more consistent, stress-free results. Every improvement compounds — and better lighting is the kind of foundational investment that touches everything we make.
Whether you're a long-time collector or discovering our work for the first time, you'll see the difference in the finished pieces. The colors are more vibrant, the detail is finer, and the overall quality is something that continues to make us proud.
The studio is lit. The glass is ready. Time for action.
